We have returned to editing videos after a nasty viral cold slowed production in December and early January. But we’re back with a new video for a new year.

After our last video update on face painting for figures or busts, featuring a 1/10th scale Young Miniatures resin bust of a Knight Templar in Jerusalem (YH1827), we asked if you wanted to see more. Many of you were kind enough to ask to see the painting of the whole bust and we are happy to oblige.

The part one (the face and beard) of this bust but is visible here:

In this “How To” video come review, we experiment with painting a medieval Knight Templar (who looks a lot like Sean Connery). To do this, we needed to paint white and black. So rather than a proper “How To” step-by-step guide, this is more of a review of Vallejo’s White and Black set that we unboxed some years back for Vallejo.

There are links in the video this and other videos we mention - with useful techniques and products - click on the i symbol when you see it.

Our other video for 1/35th scale figures is here:

Whilst another video on 1/10th scale faces is available here:

You may also enjoy our build series playlist on another Young Miniatures bust of an 82nd Airborne Paratrooper from D-Day. including face painting:

This is not a masterclass, rather a simple technique for effective results. It should be accessible and simple to follow even for beginners. If you want to watch a long-winded masterclass, check out one of the expert figure painter channels on You Tube instead.

We hope you enjoy this and that it inspires you to try your hand at a larger scale bust or figure.
