Farther into Ghost Island, Pac-Man starts to complain about the environment around him, when a chilling voice is heard...! It appears to belong to Wormwood, the Great Ghost Tree! He reveals that Spooky is in fact not in the area and challenges our hero to a deadly maze! Along the way, Pac-Man encounters wizard ghosts, who shield the spectral tree's cores with magic spells! To get rid of the spell and attack Wormwood's cores, Pac-Man must use a Power Pellet to eat all the wizard ghosts in the area. After being struck two times in this fashion, Wormwood decides to do battle with Pac-Man by himself, using his cursed roots to strike at him, while more wizard ghosts protect his remaining cores. When the final cores are struck, Wormwood's essence begins to fade as he delivers a final warning to Pac-Man...
