June 2, 2018 - With the Stanley Cup Final tied at one game apiece, the series shifted to Capital One Arena where Capitals fans were finally going to get to see their team play in June for the first time in 20 years. Ovechkin had many chances in the first period but was unable to solve long-time nemesis Marc-Andre Fleury. Early in the second, Ovechkin would open to scoring to bring the crowd to their feet. With that goal, he tied John Druce's 1990 playoff record for the most goals by a Washington Capital in one postseason. As Ovechkin continued to deliver big hits and even some shot blocks, the rest of the team provided support with a Kuznetsov goal to push the lead to 2-0 and yet another clutch goal from Devante Smith-Pelly to put the game out of reach in the third. Ovechkin's energy was apparent all night, as it was hard to tell which of the three goals he celebrated the hardest. It was an incredible experience for everyone who had been waiting to see what would happen when their team and their captain played for the Stanley Cup on home ice.
