We are headed to Vegas for Thanksgiving! This wasn't the original plan (which included Japan or Colorado), but due to work constraints, the Cybertruck Studios is hitting the 15 North, and I'm pushing the limits by trying to charge "out of spec" style—staying at a lower state of charge for faster charging speeds.
I had the chance to test the newest FSD V14.2 software on the Cybertruck extensively, and here are the biggest takeaways. The good news is the annoying lane hugging on the left side is fixed! FSD now actively uses all lanes and handles highway driving much better. However, the big new bug is lane change hesitation. When the turn signal is on and there are vehicles two to three car lengths away, FSD gets scared, forcing me to take over, which is frustrating for me and confusing for other drivers. Nudging the wheel often disengages the system completely.
Charging & Efficiency: This trip was all about testing the network. I was thrilled to find the brand new Baker Supercharger—a 325 kW V4 station! It's compatible with non-Teslas, and we saw Lucids, Lightnings, and Mach-Es charging there. These new stalls are fast, hitting over 25kW at 31% SOC. We also ended up seeing the unique Vay driverless car and checking into the Cosmopolitan. After a lot of driving and sightseeing (and a buffet dinner!), the final trip data showed an efficiency of 497.6 wh/mi—the first time I've been below 500 wh/mi on a Vegas Cybertruck trip! I spent 65% of the total trip using FSD, according to the new in-car data view.
