I caught up with my buddy William at the Zero Emissions Run to check out his insane Cybertruck setup. The big question: Can you actually downsize to an 18-inch wheel with those brakes?
The answer is a resounding yes! William is running 18-inch Method Wheels, and as you can see, they clear the brake calipers perfectly. It’s a tight fit, but it works, giving the truck a much more rugged, off-road-ready aesthetic.
The Tire Setup: He’s currently running BFGoodrich KO3s in a beefy 285/75/18. That extra sidewall is amazing for off-roading, but there is a catch. William mentioned that he does experience a little bit of rubbing when the air suspension is set to High or Extract modes during off-road maneuvers. However, in Medium, Low, and Entry heights, it’s smooth sailing with no issues!
He’s thinking about dropping down to a 70 aspect ratio (like a 285/70/18) to get that perfect balance of beefy looks without the rub at full suspension travel.
It’s all about the trial and error to find the perfect EV overlanding setup!
