King Rose Archives | Our Friend France - WWI Documentary (Pt. 2) or "Our American Boys in the European War" (USA, 1916) @KingRoseArchives | Uploaded March 2023 | Updated October 2024, 6 hours ago.
Our Friend France Part 2, is the continuation of the World War I (WWI) documentary film about the American Field Service. During WWI, the American Field Service was an organization of volunteers who drove ambulances behind the French frontlines, as well as American pilots that joined the Lafayette Escadrille on the French side of the war. Long thought to be a lost movie, the film has been partially retrieved. The two-reel film, Our Friend France, was a revamp of a film produced by the Triangle Film Corporation in 1916, and released in America under the title "Our American Boys in the European War" (USA, 1916). The film originally premiered at the Hotel Majestic in New York City, July 1916 at a fundraiser for the American Field Service. The film became an important propaganda film for America, promoting a stronger national defense for the United States, especially during WWI. The film was also shown during a fundraiser for the American Field Service.
