The Indeterminate Ensemble is an aleatoric curation of improvisers, instrumentalists & sound artists from an ever evolving New York-based collective specializing in free form large group improvisation. Sonically, pieces explore the emergence of form & interactions within the intersectionality of multi-faceted interplay between diversely contrasting musical genres & instrumentation; from computer music to electro-acoustic to tonal music - sound, time, timber, texture, instrumentation, personnel & ensemble size all are determined by chance. Longtime members include organelle-ist Trey Cregan, multi- instrumentalists Thom Miritello, Jonathon Grover, electroacoustic luthier Tim Pickerell, synthesists John Franco, Laura Feathers, guitarist Kevin Ramsay, sound-painter Sam Day Harmet, thereminist/projectionist Carlos Johns-Davila, shaman Theo Woodward, PYRON the arsonist, violist Sara Wentworth among many others.

$The Secret Pope-Last Rites Performance by Sofy Yuditskaya A live play of a new piece recently created for the Secret Pope project by Sofy Yuditskaya. This last embodiment will be performed on Oct 31, 2021 for the closing of the Secret Pope installation at Harvestworks on Governor’s Island. On a backdrop of spacey stary skies and generated graphics, the Secret Pope emerges like a satellite reflecting and refracting 8bit projections of the constellations behind her. This piece speaks to the extension of ourselves into the future, and expanding into space. The piece was originally commissioned by Robert Pepper for his tarot project closing at Pleiades Gallery. BIOS Sofy Yuditskaya (@_the_s0urce_) is a site-specific media artist and educator working with sound, video, interactivity, projections, code, paper, and salvaged material. Her work focuses on techno-occult rituals, street performance, and participatory art. Sofy’s performances enact and reframe hegemonies, she works with materials that exemplify our deep entanglement with petro-culture and technology’s affect on consciousness. Collaborator: Andrew MacFarlane (vaporstack) is a brooklyn based artist and self-taught developer focussed on realtime generative graphics, vector art, and studious observation of the world around us. his ongoing project is a game/application engine written in c. when he has to, he writes python instead. he graduated from the cooper union in 2005. insta: @vaporstack$

$音園 Oto Zono Festival Day 1 - Elliott Sharp and Janene Higgins Elliott Sharp and Janene Higgins present Suspension of Disbelief, a structure for improvisation using video and sound. In their work together, the images provide a visual counterpoint to the music. Foreground and background are continuously shifting as both sound and visuals emerge from fixed elements and then expand with improvised extrapolations. The projections may solidify the abstract but may also elevate that which is obvious to another level of meaning, never literal, never explaining, but creating an immediate visceral response. As a composer, Sharps strategies encompass fractal geometry, chaos theory, algorithmic approaches, genetic metaphors, and new techniques for graphic notation to yield work catalyzing a synesthetic approach to music as well as functioning as retinal art. A multi-instrumentalist, Sharp may perform on guitars, reeds, instruments of his own invention, and electronics. A graphic designer by profession, Janene Higgins uses original footage, hand-painted textures, and digital processing in her projection design which she may then manipulate live, using various software operations. Sharp and Higgins have created a number of operas with the visuals providing set and setting as well as commentary. The operas include Binibon (2009), Port Bou (2014), Filiseti Mekidesi (2018), and Die Grösste Fuge (2021). In addition, their Entanglement Suite was premiered in Naples, Italy in September 2023 by the Ensemble Dissonanzen.$
