There isn't much information available about the "OBE" as this orchestra is often referred to.
What is known, is that this Brazilian Orchestra mainly performed music written (and originally performed by) famous Brazilian composer and singer-songwriter Roberto Carlos.
Some say that the albums which were released - usually shortly after Carlos released a new album - were all re-arranged instrumental versions of the Original songs, but played by the same musicians that accompanied Roberto Carlos during his recording sessions.
Some even go further than that and say that the music is exactly the same as on the Carlos albums, only this time without the voice of Carlos (studio editing).
Listening to the music, one can determine that the orchestra consisted of a rather large number of musicians, cfr. the significant string sound that can be heard on all the albums.

The songs and music of Roberto Carlos were the subject of full albums recorded as a tribute to "El Rei" (The King) (nickname of Carlos) by Ray Conniff, Caravelli and Julio Iglesias.

Be it that little is known about this orchestra, the sound we hear sure is smooth and pleasant. The brass, rhythm and strings section are well balanced and the end result easily stands a comparison with other major orchestras.
One little detail to be pointed out maybe : the song played here "Minha Senhora" was written by Gilberto Gil and performed (only) by Roberto Carlos. So.... with everything sorted out ;) let's now concentrate on the music ! Enjoy.
