Ophiolatry has officially signed with legendary Combat Records, marking a powerful new chapter for the Canadian/Brazilian brutal death metal unit following the release of their acclaimed return album Serpent’s Verdict.
Forged in the Brazilian extreme metal underground in 1998, Ophiolatry has spent nearly three decades delivering uncompromising brutality, technical precision, and relentless intensity. From early releases like Opposite Monarchy to Anti-Evangelistic Process and Transmutation, the band has carved a respected place in global death metal history.
Now joining the reborn Combat Records roster, Ophiolatry stands alongside one of the most influential names in heavy music, originally responsible for launching and shaping legends like Megadeth, Exodus, Nuclear Assault, and Helstar during the 1980s thrash explosion. With Combat now relaunched in 2026, the label continues its mission of supporting uncompromising extreme metal worldwide.
As stated by Combat Records leadership, the partnership reflects a shared vision for the future of heavy music and a commitment to authenticity and intensity.
Ophiolatry’s current lineup features Jaime Verón (vocals), Jhorge “Dog” Duarte (drums), Diego Santiago (bass), and Joubert Thaumiel (guitar), forming the band’s most focused and devastating lineup to date.
Their latest album Serpent’s Verdict, released via Wormhole Death Records, showcases thirteen tracks of refined aggression, mastered by Dan Swanö (Opeth, Dissection, Dark Funeral). The band also earned international recognition with their video “Jesus Complex,” which received a Badge of Honor at the Berlin Music Video Awards 2026.
