There are only three coal fired fish n' chips left in the UK and one on them is in Esh Winning, in Co Durham and that is Fields Fish n' Chips. There have been five generations of Fields running the fish n' chips shop in Esh Winning over the last 111 years, so they obviously know a thing or two about good quality fish n' chips, so I drove down to Fields to see why the fish n' chips in Esh Winning was so good - this is what I found out.
