I was lucky enough to see #OneNightInMiami, at the 'virtual' Toronto International Film Festival last September, and I'm so glad so many people can now stream the film on Amazon Prime. This film, based off the stage play of the same name (written by Kemp Powers) is the directorial debut of #ReginaKing who is having an amazing year both on and off the screen.
It tells the story of one night (fittingly, in Miami) where Malcolm X, Cassius Clay, Sam Cooke and Jim Brown are celebrating Cassius' win as Heavy weight champion, and where these four iconic and prolific men discuss their ideologies on life, religion and the plight of African American people.
This was my favourite film coming out of TIFF, and in my #MovieReview I let you know what was so captivating about this amazing group of actors, who Powers and King do beautifully to craft an adaptations that never seems stagnant or bottled, and how the storyline is something everyone needs to see in today's world of much needed change.
