Oleg Gazmanov (Олег Газманов) is a Russian singer-songwriter who has recently found himself in trouble for being a regime propagandist after the Russia/Ukraine War. Long before he was a Russian nationalist, he was a proud Soviet Communist, changing his ideology according to his personal needs. This typically doesn't make for good art, yet he managed to write one of the greatest pop songs ever -- "Squadron" (Эксадрон), which captured the ironic listlessness (and hopelessness) of Russia's 1980s and 1990s.
