In all NG categories, we have to get up to this flower in Oni Island F4 to do Tobi Race Skip (see youtu.be/HH2CTv0kLg4). As shown in that video by Cookie, we previously would jump up to the electric platform behind the swinging Blocking Spider, then jump back through the spider to get enough height to activate the flower.
I never really liked this method since it's easy to misjudge the swing cycle and get smacked into the fight trigger below. This video demonstrates an alternate method to reach the flower which avoids going near the spider. This should save 5-7 seconds compared with the old method.
The method is as follows:
1. After skipping the staircase cutscene, double jump up to the upper electric platforms. Use inner camera for this.
2. When you land, immediately turn Ammy around and use R3 to snap the camera behind her. I think this isn't optional.
3. Tackle jump, double jump at max height, then air tackle into the bookcase while holding L1 (or whatever your camera-mode-swap button is). This is normally supposed to activate 1st person mode, but it won't do anything in the air until Ammy lands. It happens that if you air-tackle wall-bounce while holding the camera button, the game will briefly try to enter 1st person mode, then immediately exit. If you press brush during this time, you can retain the position and some properties of 1st person mode, which can sometimes include flipping the camera around depending on nearby geometry. That's what we do here.
4. If you time your brush correctly, Ammy and the flower will both be on-screen and you can immediately Vine without needing to rotate the camera. This saves a lot of time over other methods since camera rotation is so slow.
Keep in mind this is kinda jank and I can't call it 100% reliable yet. There are a few different failure modes. Obviously if you undershoot your jumps toward the staircase, you won't make it and might fall to the lower electric platforms or all the way to the floor. The risk of falling into the battle trigger is pretty low, fortunately. You can just double-jump and wall-bounce to get back onto the lower electric platforms if you fall all the way down.
If you press brush too early, the brush camera may not fully flip in front of Ammy, which means you'll have to rotate all the way around manually. It probably still saves time versus the old method, but not by much. At least you skip the spider...
If you press brush too late, Ammy will fall out of view of the camera, and you won't be able to get both her and the flower within the FOV at the same time. If this happens, just release brush and reset the trick. Keep in mind that Ammy may be inside the FOV but obscured behind the staircase, depending on various factors like wall-bounce position. You can usually still Vine to her in this case.
It's good to be back!

![Okami All Brushes in 3:49:04 - New Game All Brushes Speedrun [Former World Record]
For those unfamiliar, the All Brushes category requires us to collect all brush techniques AND upgrades (e.g. Fireburst, Mist Warp, Cherry Bomb 2/3, etc.). This makes for a longer run, but one with many interesting routing possibilities due to the many objectives that can be completed at any time.
This run had a lot of mistakes and sloppy play, but it was just better-enough than the previous run to save over 2m. Wawku was the biggest flop, but there were many smaller mistakes sprinkled all over the run. The first sub-3:50 for NG AB ^_^
Definitely a lot of time left to save in this category. Sub-3:40 is *probably* doable, but it will take a lot of work. Im starting to think sub-3:30 isnt feasible for a human.
This run beat the previous WR of 3:51:28 (https://youtu.be/lsXxql5c82k).
