Tobi Race skip

The reason why it's unreliable and difficult is because some of the jumps are pretty difficult to execute. The first jump you have to time and jump at a precise angle. The reason why you need to angle it correctly is because there's an invisible collision that can block you. You also have to quit out of the game fast. Because the only way to get on that fencepost is by doing a quit out.
The second jump is annoying because you have to be able to run straight against the fencepost. So you can easily run off the fence. You also only have a small space to perform a jump and angle your jump correctly. If you angle the jump wrong you can get stuck in between the railing and the fence or between the fence and the wall, with no way to get out.
After the roll can be unreliable as well if you don't angle your roll correctly you can get stuck in several different places or get launched off the fence.
Unfortunately also this AI freeze doesn't really seem to be too useful for speedruns. Nonetheless it is still a really cool glitch and I am sure there are people outside the speedrun community who will use this glitch.
Fortunately I do think people who don't necessarily speedrun the game will still find enjoyment attempting to perform this glitch because of how much easier it is over the old method.
This amazing new discovery was found by TheNewBladeRunner.

In order to perform this glitch you want to have already activated the fight. So that the fog gate of the fight appears. Once you have a fog gate active you want to face the wall and stand far enough away from the gate to be barely able to enter.
Once positioned correctly your character will end up out of bounds after entering the gate. From there it feels a bit random whether you will get pushed into the arena or not. If you don't get pushed into the arena you will most likely fall off the map. Which is not a big deal since you can just quit out of the game and try again.
The idea for this glitch came from a recent discovery made in dark souls 3. Where someone was able to freeze Aldrich's AI by standing far away enough from the fog gate.
Although we knew that fog gate AI freeze was possible in Demon's Souls Remake and Elden Ring I didn't think they would be possible in Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Mostly because the Remake was done by a different team and some of the mechanics had changed from the original. The fog gate AI freeze in Elden Ring felt like an oversight since that game was so big.
But ever since that discovery in dark souls 3 I have feeling that there might be more AI freezes in the other souls games.
Also This AI is not very useful in speedruns maybe for BL4. But even then I highly doubt it saves any time in that category.
In order to perform this particular move swap I need a weapon that has a stance (most L2/LT on katana's have unsheathe), Devourer's Scepter and hand of Malenia. Hand of Malenia has to be on my main hand and my Uchigatana on my off-hand. Devourer's Scepter will be switched later with the Uchigatana.
These are the steps for move swap:
- Do a normal(R1) attack and right before the end of the swing you want to queue up your stance(L2).
- As soon as you queued up your stance go to your equipment and swap your stance weapon with the Devourer's Scepter.
- Press any direction and you should be flying now. To get out of menu press the Options button.
We are currently still testing with other weapons that allow us to temporarily fly. So far Hand of Malenia and Marika's Hammer are the weapons that allows us to fly with move swap.

There is a spot above the exit that doesn't have collision. We can get there by using Waterfowl Dance. Once out of bound we can make our way toward the next section. From there we want to climb up using Waterfowl Dance. If you try to jump up you get stuck in a falling animation.
Once we are all the way up we can use waterfowl dance to fall down and go back in bounds.
We can break Malenia's AI break by going out of bounds and go back to the room before the arena. Once we are on top of that room. We can quitout and your character will spawn back out of bounds on top of that room. From there we can jump back in bounds in the arena.
Malenia's AI won't be activate because we haven't gone through the foggate. This will carry over to the second phase.
This is a complete reroute for the Mountaintops of the Giants. This new route should save at least 25 seconds IGT.
I start off at the Elevator with the Pegasus glitch already active. I do this because in the speedrun, runners already have the horse glitch activated before entering Mountaintops.
For the jump on the tree you want to come at it from an angle coming from the right.

I found that if you hold your sprint as you're running up the hill instead of spamming it, it will become a lot easier and faster to get up the hill. By holding sprint you will have much more control over Torrent. This is important because you will have to do a couple sharp turns to make it up the hill fast.
The difference in pathing is right towards the end of the elevator ride. I use the elevator wheel to gain more height. Once I run outside I run up against a specific wall to gain just enough height to make the double jump up the stairs.
The double jump is a bit tricky because it is important that you delay the second jump by a bit. So that you're jumping at the highest point of the first jump.
To perform this skip you need to do 2 things you need to dismount Torrent and quitout before the dismount is completed. If done correctly Torrent will spawn next to you when you get back in the game.
Then you need to make Torrent fall off a cliff. This will cause Torrent to lose all his health and despawn. When that happens you have to revive him this will glitch him out and make him despawn. Spawn him once more and Torrent can fly now.

During this Pegasus Glitch our height is fixed. But we can use the terrain to gain height.

This skip is very precise as you have to hit the ground during the knockback animation from the flask. During the knockback animation all your other damages will be ignored. If you drink too early your character will have the time to recover from the knockback of the flask and will end up taking full fall damage.
Thanks to u/ClumsyTeaDrinker who discovered this glitch.
At 0:25 we're jumping on an object that the game doesn't recognize. So when we quit out of the game and come back most of the assets in the game gets deloaded until we hit stable ground. As soon as we hit stable ground the game starts to load in the assets. Assets like breakable objects and fog gates usually load in last. Because of how slow assets load in on last gen consoles, we can well make it past the foggate before it gets loaded is.
I got a really good Cleric fight but really messed up on the skip and boulder section. But regardless still very satisfied with a sub 10 run in this category. Time can definitely be improved by a bit.
Fairly happy with the run made some slight mistakes which lost me a few seconds.
It was not the best run. But it is a sub 14 run which I am quite happy with. Definitely a lot of room of improvements left. Especially on the Gilbert fight.
This is really fun short game to speedrun. So I will continue to do runs.

Huge thanks to B3 for making the collision viewer mod available to use for the runners. Also a big thanks to www.twitch.tv/distortion2 who laid down the foundation of the skip on the current patch and also for streaming his collision view exploration. Without any of them this skip wouldn't have been made possible.
Turns out the last jump is not so bad. As long as your clip character clips underneath the tree the jump should be a lot easier to perform.
With this skip we can skip a huge portion of the early game in Bloodborne. Doing this skip will allow us to skip Gascoigne, Cleric beast, Bloodstarved Beast and Amelia.
Sorry this VOD is not very interesting mostly just for archive purposes.
