Nova Scota is betting big on offshore wind power by offering offshore leases for up to 5 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity.
Elisa Oberman of Marine Renewables Canada says Nova Scotia only uses 2.5 gigawatts for all their needs.
Nova Scotia has already identified areas that could produce up to 60 gigawatts offshore, which if developed could produce enough electricity to satisfy 27% of Canada's total demand.
