A pilot program in the Blatchford carbon-neutral community will link 100 solar-powered homes as a virtual power plant, which will help stabilize the grid and provide revenue for owners of super energy-efficient, solar-powered homes. It's a project being led by Landmark Homes a builder of net-zero homes in Blatchford, homes that are already capable of netting out their utility bills to zero on a net annual basis. Once each home is equipped with a 20-kilowatt battery the homes should be able to provide net revenue to homeowners thanks to their home energy power plants.
We talk to Geoff Ferrell of sonnen the battery supplier for the project and Reza Nasseri, the founder of net-zero builder Landmark Homes.
