On this episode of OWWs, I have a distillery exclusive from Benromach. A single cask 19 year old whisky matured in a virgin oak.

Now virgin oaks are tricky in the sense that they could make the spirit become too woody and harsh with way too much spice. I have never connected with virgin oaks before and they were all under 5 years of age. To try a whisky which has spent 19 years in these un-mellow casks sounded dubious at first... until I actually tried the whisky.

Spoiler alert, it's very good!
