Using some scrap pieces of wood I used a piece of Oak and a smaller piece of Sapele which would become the stripe across the top of the car.
I've seen several cars made, but these are all turned in the normal way creating a very round shape to the car. The plan was to use off centre turning so that the top can be curved, just like you would find naturally on most cars and the bottom would have a slight curve to take off the sharp edges.
Being my first attempt at this, I opted for a basic shape which comes across more of a vintage car style. The wheels and the spindles to hold the wheels were all turned quite easily.
For the final shaping I used my Dremmel 4300. Think I still need a lot more practise with this as sculpting is not a strong point.
Created a personal number plate for the person that this was going to.
Finished off with two coats of Danish Oil to give it some protection but didn't want a glossy look..
