The ExaSMR team at Oak Ridge National Laboratory optimized its codes for exascale supercomputers like Frontier, providing design engineers with the highest-resolution simulations of nuclear power systems to date.

This means proposed designs for small modular reactors and new advanced reactor concepts can be tested long before conducting costly physical experiments, accelerating advances in fission power.
