The annual steam gala for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway would see four visiting locomotives tackling the renowned 1/49 to Goathland and beyond.
The first visitor to Grace the moorsline would see a Southern Battle Of Britain Light Pacific in the form of 34072 257 Squadron. Southern steam on the North York Moors has become a regular sight on their annual gala's, and this year is no different. The 2nd visitor would see LMS Ivatt 2MT 41313 make the long journey North from the Isle Of Wight Steam Railway. The baby Ivatt, due to it's low power classification, would be seen on local shuttle trains and a selection of double headers. The third visitor would see another class 2 feature, this time B.R 78019 would follow the same path as the Ivatt being mostly on shuttle services and double headers. The final visitor would see another B.R Standard, this time it was STD 4 tank in the form of 80078.
The homefleet was in attendance as expected, with the 9F also making it after late repairs were completed in time. This video features action from the first three days. Conditions were generally good. The highlights of the video include double headed STD 4 Tanks, double headed black fives and an early morning run by 34072 in glorious early morning light. Unfortunately there were no goods trains this year.
As usual the NYMR put on a superb show with some of the best timekeeping I've seen. I hope you enjoy the video.
