Although William Shakespeare has sometimes been denounced by identitarians, plays such as Othello, The Tempest, and The Merchant of Venice feature characters and monologues that sit quite well with postcolonial theory and other leftist POVs. Regardless, Ibram X. Kendi is critical of Dead White Males, and Shakespeare in particular, denouncing him as a "racist" for writing plays such as Othello, which depict a racist society (and Iago, in particular) attempting to destroy a respected Moor. Alex Sheremet is joined by Norman Finkelstein to discuss the implications of Ibram X Kendi's criticism.
Norman Finkelstein is a Holocaust scholar and the author of "The Holocaust Industry", "Gaza: An Inquest Into Its Martyrdom", and most recently "I'll Burn That Bridge When I Get To It", where he has an extended critique of the books of Ibram X. Kendi.
