The Israel-Palestine conflict has many analogues in history, yet it is Liberia which provides the best and most under-discussed parallels. Liberia is a country in Africa which was established as a refuge for slaves fleeing violence and discrimination in America. As with Israel, however, the settlers first had to ethnically cleanse the native population, leading to racism, conflict, and eventually, civil war. This video essay examines the history of both Palestine and Liberia, highlighting their connections.
