A tune I began writing about two and a half years ago and just finished it toward the end of 2020. The first line just fell into my lap and I kind a liked it so thought I'd finish it.
I'm still living out here in the high desert and it's quite lonely. Add a pandemic to that loneliness and it's devestating. I now understand why so many are suffering some mental damage from this pandemic, because I am really about at a breaking point. Really. I only have my guitar and my paintings and getting out in nature, but it's not enough. As I mentioned in my last video, it is PEOPLE we need to interact with throughout our day. At least that's the way I was always used to. When I lived in Illinois I'd go sit at the gas station where inside was tables to sit and have coffeee, snacks, pizza etc. I used to see friends come and go and even family. I loved people-watching. Here in Winslow I used to goto the cafes and sit and talk with strangers and enjoy myself just getting out of the house. But, now that's all changed and I don't see us getting back to normal until at least mid-summer. Holy shit! Can I really make it that long?
Many artists and musicians have turned into their music to express themselves. I have done that too. I have 14 new songs to record and no recording equipment to doit seriously. SO I am trying to figure out a small set up for a minimalist that I can record this next album. I'll need money, so if you ever wnat to buy any of my many, many available titles, ebooks etc that will help. When I became a minimalist I got rid of my studio equipment and only kept a few guitars, mics and things. I really didn't think I had any more music left in me that I really wanted to do. But, then came the pandemic and lots of free time. A flood of tunes fell into my lap, one after the other, and many of them very strong, catchy, hookish tunes. It's going to take a lot of effort on my part to get them recorded and made available.
Okay, I feel I am rambling. I have gone a little crazy. "One day I looked in the mirror and don't know who I saw." "One day I woke up and found that I was not around." Those are some of the lyrics in this song demo. Another line, is "It's not the time that flies, it's the love gone by." For me it means as long as we have friendships, bonding, love, then time doesn;t matter. It's the interaction and experiences that make life worth lving.
