A song I wrote in December of 2020. My mind drifted back to the christmas's of my youth, the most memorable ones being firmly planted in the 1970's. Wow! what an incredible time. My brothers and sisters will agree. I don't know how mom and dad bought so many presents. They were literallly stacked around the tree. I remember one night just laying on the living room floor looking upward through the christmas tree with all it's coored lights glimmering, and tinsel, ornaments and candy canes hanging so pretty. I remember the smell of the real christmas tree which we would occassionally have.
I cherish those times, and it's a great place to escape to when I want to turn on "channel Ray," which simply means not to be too disheartened and distraceted by the present situation the world finds itself in with this covid-19. Of course we got to be careful, and wear masks and follow the CDC guidelines. It's the smart thing to do in this difficult time.
A human's respitory system/lungs is a dangerous weapon, and always has been. Viruses spread to others by coughs and sneezes and now by simple breathing.
Let's hope the coming new year sees the rates of infection decline along with the rates of death. SOmeday this will be behind us and we can all get back to anormal life again.
I wish you all a good christmas if that is possible. I know for many it's been so difficult. Maybe for some of you this song will stir up some good memories for YOU. You can turn YOUR channel on and emerse yourself in the past and all the good times and christmases that came with it.
I always wish peace for the world. I hope that we as a country come to know that we must unite together. Love is still the answer.
In this video you will see some of my paintings. You will also see some 8mm film clips taken by my dad. We have quite a few of them. Dad took a lot around christmas. I wrote the song in an hour one early morning and thought it worked well for a christmas tune and wanted to share it with you.
Take care!
Ray
