A few years back, when I replaced the roof on the barn, I decided to add a 2-foot overhang. This simple addition has made a big difference—it keeps rainwater away from the siding and helps protect the base of the structure from moisture damage and rot. One detail I hadn’t gotten around to until now was adding a trim piece where the siding meets the roof sheathing. That small gap always bugged me, so today I finally wrapped it up by installing a piece of stop molding. It’s a small job, but it really finishes off the transition nicely and adds a clean look. Instead of dragging the miter saw outside, I kept it simple. I set up a quick workbench and used a sharp hand saw to make the cuts. Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from the power tools and enjoy the quietness of working by hand. This was a fun little project and it always feels good to check something off the list. See less
