This built-in bookcase was installed in the summer, but now that winter’s dry air has set in, the wood has contracted and small seams have appeared. In this video, I show a quick, simple fix using caulk: cut the tip at a 45° angle, apply it along the seam, and smooth it with a damp finger. The seam disappears, and because the trim and caulk are both white, no painting is needed. If you’re seeing similar gaps in your home, this straightforward approach will take care of them.
