My wife Laurel asked me to build gabled roofs for the beehives out front. While gabled roofs aren’t exactly the most practical choice for beekeeping (most beekeepers prefer flat covers that double as work surfaces), I have to admit I like how they look.
For now, I’ve just painted the roofs to give them some weather protection. We’ll see how they hold up over time — and if needed, I’ll add aluminum sheeting for extra durability. I’m not planning to add gabled roofs to the backyard hives, but these ones out front definitely add a bit of visual appeal to the landscape.
