I recommend building this planter using cedar or Sapele wood. For my build, I used Jatoba—also known as Brazilian cherry—since I had a few boards on hand in the shop. While the end result turned out great, working with such a dense and extremely hard wood proved to be quite challenging. That said, I’m really pleased with how it came together.
As mentioned in the video, you can complete this project using either domino joinery or pocket hole screws—the plans and cut list remain exactly the same either way.
