Three new amendments related to Montana’s proposed 2026-27 furbearer and wolf hunting and trapping seasons will be considered during the Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting Aug. 19.
Region 1 Commissioner Ian Wargo proposed the amendments, which include retaining Region 1’s bobcat quota of 200 for another year and removing proposed wolf subquotas that would apply from Sept. 5 through Dec. 31.
Another amendment would establish regional wolf quotas, including 135 in Region 1, 95 in Region 2 and 33 in Region 3, excluding wildlife management units 313 and 316. Those two units would each have a quota of three wolves.
