This was a response to Huw who has range problems with his new DX6, only manages about 100 yards with supercub, and not much further than 200M with Radian - with his DX6i he can fly as far as he can see.
I wanted to test this, mainly to confirm if my DX6 is OK, but also thought it would be an interesting comparison, as I have the new DX6, DX8 and original DX6i (which I can't seem to sell!).
I setup a test rig using a genuine AR7610 receiver on dining table which my daughter watched while I took the radio up the road, so when she said 'stop stop stop' I would know signal had been lost.
I checked new DX6 in DSMX and DSM2, DX8 in both also, and DX6i can only do DSM2 as its the original version, result was all lost signal at pretty much exactly the same position, while this was only 55Metres away, as both tx/rx were at waist height, rx was inside house about 8 ft from my wifi router, and the path between was through a house, and a block of garages, obviously in normal use in open space with the receiver up in the air the range would be many many times greater.
Main thing I wanted to check, and confirmed was there doesn't seem to be any difference in range between new DX6, my DX8 and DX6i - not that you'd expect anything less, but reassuring to see this was the case.
