Mitsubishi just created one of the most unusual versions of the Triton yet, and it actually comes from the dealer with a shovel mounted to the roof. The new Mitsubishi Triton Savana Sertões was designed for serious off-road adventures in Brazil.
Inspired by the Rally dos Sertões, this limited-production pickup receives a steel roof rack carrying recovery boards and a shovel, along with front and rear skid plates, rock slider-style side protection, a factory snorkel, and Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac RT all-terrain tires.
The snorkel helps increase water wading capability to 800 millimeters, while the roof rack can support up to 50 kilograms of cargo. Under the hood, Mitsubishi keeps the familiar 2.4-liter twin-turbocharged diesel engine producing 202 horsepower and 470 Newton-meters of torque.
Power is delivered through a 6-speed automatic transmission and Mitsubishi's Super Select 4WD-II four-wheel-drive system, giving the Triton low range, center and rear differential locks, multiple selectable drive modes, and Active Yaw Control.
Inside, the special edition combines orange stitching and unique badging with leather upholstery, a 9-inch infotainment display, a 360-degree camera, 7 airbags, and advanced driver assistance technology.
The Mitsubishi Triton Savana Sertões launches in Brazil at R$339,990, approximately $66,000, with production limited to an unspecified number of vehicles.
