The new John Deere 8RX 440 is beginning to arrive at dealerships across North America, and while visiting western Kentucky I had the opportunity to film one at work planting double crop soybeans following wheat harvest.
Working alongside the new 8RX 440 was a John Deere 9RX 640. Both tractors were pulling new Horsch Panther 460 air drills with Horsch SW600 air carts as the farm seeded soybeans immediately after combining wheat.
I filmed this video near Pembroke, Kentucky in June 2026, and it showcases modern no-till planting following wheat harvest. Double crop soybeans are an important part of many farming operations across the Midwest and South, allowing farmers to harvest two crops from the same field in a single growing season.
