Corn silage harvest is underway for the 2026 season! In this video I am at a family dairy farm near Versailles, Ohio as Wuertemberger Chopping is custom harvesting corn silage with their CLAAS Jaguar 990 self propelled forage harvester.
This dairy raises non-GMO corn, and this field has had some issues with corn rootworm. Some of the corn is starting to go down, which you will see as we follow the harvest operation through the field.
Running alongside the CLAAS Jaguar 990 are two JCB Fastrac tractors. One is pulling a Penta DB50 demo cart while the other is pulling a Meyer forage box. Several additional Meyer forage boxes are being pulled by the farm's John Deere 8000 Series tractors as they haul silage from the field back to the dairy.
At the farm, Wuertemberger Chopping is pushing and packing the silage pile with a New Holland T8.330 and New Holland T8.390, both equipped with front silage blades. The farm is also helping pack the pile with their Case IH Steiger 580 Quadtrac.
This video has plenty of drone and on-the-ground footage showing the entire corn silage harvest operation from chopping and hauling in the field to pushing and packing the silage pile at the farm.
