In light of Malcolm-Jamal Warner's tragic death, I thought I'd share something from my collection I haven't seen on YouTube. Here he is with Ahmad Rashad, hosting a 1987 episode of Friday Night Videos. I believe this recording was of a late Christmas night showing, but it may have been a repeat. I cut out the music videos, so this is just the host segments. Video quality is not great, but it's watchable.
Rashad had proposed to Warner's TV mom, Phylicia Ayers-Allen, on a Thanksgiving Day football broadcast two years earlier. I can't say for sure when this was taped, but Rashad would have been around 38, and Warner just 17. It's fun to see them just riffing as they hang out on a cheaply decorated set. Stick around until the end, when the bird (whose name is either Fido or Chicken, or probably neither) loses control right on Rashad's hand.
