Here is a sign-off (with News Headlines and more) from WNEW 5, serving the NYC area. This aired in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 28th, 1985. This was about seven months before the station changed its call letters to WNYW, when transitioning from MetroMedia ownership to becoming the Fox flagship. Announcers Tom Gregory and Ed Ladd are heard throughout. The audio was very low on the VHS tape, particularly during the news segment, so I cranked up the levels quite a bit, creating some hiss.
Here's what's in the video:

--"Hollywood's Finest will return" bump;
--Summertime Concerts Promo, Phil Collins, Sunday 9pm;
--promo, "Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell" from trailer, Sunday 1pm;
--promo, "Cops and Robbers," Sunday 3:15pm;
--"News Headlines with Lou Steele." The veteran announcer, who also hosted the "Creature Features" horror movie showcase as "The Creep" from 1969 to 1973, sounds a bit weary as he reads the stories. When he rattles off the sports scores, he perks up when he notes, "Quaint! Four 3's in a row..." Also, either he misread the final recap, or the death toll of Saturday's raceway accident went up while he was on the air. He describes the Bernhard Goetz shootings as “that celebrated subway showdown”;
--the WNEW 1130 AM plug, read by Marty Wilson of "The Milkman's Matinee";
--promo, "Little Ladies of the Night," airing 6pm Sunday. That was the "Big Apple Movie" time slot, but the package may have been done by this point (the TV movie, one of the highest rated of the time, was set in Los Angeles);
--the Sermonette (which can be found in another sign-off on this channel) is a shout-out for Jesus by William Salvia (a pastor from Staten Island, I believe) produced in '85, with "Forgotten Dreams" by Leroy Anderson playing in the background;
--Gregory reads the closing good-night message over what I guess is a sunset scene (although it would actually be closer to sunrise at this hour). A specially-produced song bookends "The Star-Spangled Banner," with video shot in the tri-state area, made in 1983;
--Finally, the station and the video go to black, with white noise.
