For most of my career, I was a plain blue apron guy. Serious, practical, restaurant-ready.
Then a few years ago, during a video shoot at the NYT, I tried on this bright yellow apron they had on set… and it changed how I felt in the kitchen. The bright color felt right. Cooking should be joyful, colorful, and fun — whether cooking for yourself or sharing a meal with people you care about.
That feeling inspired my new apron collaboration with @hedleyandbennett, launching today. It’s guava pink with golden-yolk accents and egg graphics by the talented Keith Lowe, built to last, and made by the same team whose aprons are worn by chefs and home cooks all over the world (they were rated Best Overall Apron by Serious Eats).
This one’s bright, durable, and egg-themed (my favorite ingredient). Eggs have always been my beginning — they’ve marked every new project I’ve ever started, from my Serious Eats column to my YouTube channel.
