Good morning, friends! Welcome back to the 1870s Homestead. I'm Rachel, and today I'm taking you along on my morning farm chores and giving you a full garden tour. It's a hot day ahead, so we'll start by opening the farm stand and making sure everything is well-watered. I'll show you our beautiful sunflowers and wildflowers, and we'll pick some green beans together. At the farm stand, we have fresh veggies, delicious peach jam, and more. I'll share updates on our electric fence setup for the chickens and showcase the progress of our tomatoes, pumpkins, and marigolds. We’ll also talk about my butternut squash and sweet potato patches, and the challenges I've faced with growing wheat and cucumbers. Finally, we’ll harvest some wild blackberries and explore the stunning beauty of our pasture and wildflowers. $Goat Milk Soap from Start to Finish I’m spending the day in the kitchen getting some things done around the house and I thought I’d bring you along with me. I started by putting up some orange peels in vinegar for cleaning and then moved right into making our goat milk soap for the year. I talk through my process, share some safety reminders, and show you what worked and what didn’t. The weather is bitter cold here, so it felt like the right kind of day to stay inside, make things with my hands, and just move at a slower pace.
