This video is just a cozy Monday reset with me. I had a big mess of dishes from cooking for family, so once I got through that I pulled together a pot of chicken broth using scraps from the freezer. I talk a lot about pantry cooking, herbal teas I use regularly, and why I keep things like fire honey on hand. We also make a simple homemade mouthwash from tinctures, chat about health goals for the new year, and do a little meal planning for the week. Nothing fancy, just real life homestead rhythms, warm tea, and a very sweet surprise at the end that meant more to me than I can explain.
Chicken Broth
Chicken carcass and chicken feet
Vegetable scraps (carrots, celery, onion peels, peppers, garlic scapes)
Peppercorns
Turmeric
Apple cider vinegar
Water
Simmer on low for at least 24 hours to draw out collagen and nutrients.
Fire Honey
1 cup honey
1 teaspoon cayenne
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon turmeric
½ teaspoon black pepper
Mix well and store in a jar. Use about a teaspoon in tea, coffee, or warm water.
