It is a busy, snowy day here at the Snow Dogs house, and things are a little bit stressful for Miss Eleanor! With Jamie away on a snowmobiling trip in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, it’s up to me to manage the household—which currently includes a massive construction crew working right outside our front door. Eleanor is definitely our sensitive soul, and the loud machinery had her in full freakout mode. We talk about the signs of dog anxiety, like lip licking and panting, and how we try to make her feel safe during all the chaos.
Despite the noise, we had a productive day! I took Eleanor to the vet for a checkup, and she was such a brave girl. We also experimented with the freeze-dryer and made some freeze-dried bone broth treats. Watching Memphis, Kira, and Eleanor react to the "styrofoam" texture of the broth cubes was hilarious! It’s a great way to add extra nutrition to their Siberian Husky diet, even if they weren't quite sure what to make of the crunch at first.
While we dealt with road repairs, Jamie sent over some updates from his snowmobile trip, including some epic trail footage and a look at his favorite lunch spot, Timber Charlie’s. We ended the day with a special surprise package from our editor, Dan, featuring some amazing sparkly custom prints of the girls! It’s never a dull moment when you’re living the husky life. Remember, life is short, make memories with your dogs!
