“IT SEEMS LIKE COMMON SENSE FOR THERE TO BE SUPERVISION.” The family of a teenager put into foster care wants answers after police say he was killed by another foster child.
13-year-old Daryl Lowry of Chester, South Carolina was put into temporary custody of DSS, the Department of Social Services, on July 16. However, four days later his body was found on the shore of Lake Strom Thurmond. Police say he was cut several times before being held underwater until he died. Officers arrested two foster children, an unnamed 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old Landen Moore. The two were both charged with murder.
Now Lowry’s family wants answers as to why and how this happened. Tyler Bailey, the family’s lawyer, stated that the children were left unsupervised at night, claiming it to be a major red flag for everyone's safety. The family hopes that the investigation will bring attention and change to the foster care system so that this never happens to another child.
