The son of a Kansas City Chiefs coach has been arrested after police say he shot his own mother.
In Ashburn, Virginia on June 26, police responded to a reported shooting at a home. When they arrived, they found 57-year-old Mia Bieniemy suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Mia is the wife of Kansas City Chiefs Offensive Coordinator, Eric Bieniemy. She was taken to a local hospital and is said to be in stable condition. Police arrested Eric and Mia’s son, 27-year-old Elijah Zion Bieniemy, and charged him with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling.
Chiefs head coach, Andy Reid, spoke with the media to say that the team’s thoughts are with the Bieniemy family and that Bieniemy will take time away from football to focus on his family.
