Can you believe that just 45 minutes outside of the Las Vegas desert is a stunning mountain range complete with cool temperatures, snow, ice, and a 12,000FT peak? Mount Charleston towers over Las Vegas and the summit offers incredible views all the way to the Sierra Nevada, Death Valley, and Vegas below. Mt. Charleston is the tallest peak in Las Vegas, and hiking Mt. Charleston makes for the perfect Las Vegas day trip, especially in the warmer summer months. Getting to the summit is no easy task - the standard South Loop Trail is a 17 mile + 5000 Ft climb, and, depending on what time of year you hike Mt. Charleston, you may encounter varying levels of snow and ice especially as you near the summit. We were stunned by not only the summit views but also the incredible hike through the Spring Mountain range. It’s definitely no surprise that Mt. Charleston is known for being one of the best hikes in Las Vegas. If you’re looking for things to do in Las Vegas, and need a break from the typical crowds of the city, consider a day trip to hike Mount Charleston!
