Cliff is a siding on the UP Mojave Sub, located about 15 miles west/north of Tehachapi, CA. The tracks literally run alongside the mountain on a cliff. At the north end of Cliff, there is a tunnel that is 1,175 feet long. This is tunnel 5 and it is the longest tunnel on the Tehachapi Pass. When trains are headed east/south, they are going up the grade and locomotives are working their hardest in notch 8. When the train is working through this tunnel and comes out at the north portal, the exhaust that gets built up inside the tunnel follows the train out and billows out as black smoke. It is such a cool sight to see and there a few trains in this video that had this happen. There are lots of horn shows and smoke shows as well as a BNSF warbonnet 778, UP 1989 "Rio Grande," a couple of BNSF SD40s, and much more. So enjoy the show!
