Nitori was originally a character I disliked. Then again, all the characters from MoF and SA were in my dislike list at the beginning (except Suwako and Koishi, but they are extra bosses). However, as time passed, I started getting used to Nitori's existence, but I was far from liking her. The only thing I liked about her was that she is an engineer (since I too aspire to be one =p) and the name of her stage's song, "The Gensokyo the Gods Loved." That has to be one of my favorite phrases ever pronounced in the canon Touhouverse, alongside
"THE GLOOMY POWER OF LOVE." -Koishi Komeiji
"Sleep with a trauma so deep it will wake you up." -Satori Komeiji
"Genocide is just another game. It doesn't matter if it's humans or Makai residents." -Yuka Kazami

However, sometimes something happens in your life that changes your perspective over certain things, whether is insignificant or not. No matter how small it is, is strong enough to completely change your opinion without any basis. There are two things that changed my opinion towards Nitori: engineering and Water Imp. Engineering is simple: I've been brainwashed in university, period. However Water Imp is a little more profound. "Water Imp" is the name of the Candid Friend arrange I used in this video. Composed by Kota-Rock, the first time I heard this arrange in ChaosAngel's channel, it simply shocked me. I couldn't stop listening. It was amazing, it was excellent, it was outstanding, and it was, above all, epic in so many levels. Nitori has the power to control water. Now imagine fighting her in a dark, thunderous, rainy night at the beat of this song. She is now throwing her Hyperspace Arsenal of rockets, bullets (real ones), and danmaku at you. She's also manipulating the raining water actively. See what I mean? The moment I heard this song I knew I had to use it somewhere. To this day there are a group of songs that Ive been anxious to use and patiently await for the right time to use them. This is one of those songs.
Is hard to locate Nitori in my list of fav characters. I like her a lot, but when I seriously think about it, characters that I immediately liked, like Flandre, Aya, and Yukari, instantly top her in a favorite list. However, she's the only character with the exception of Kourin who I wouldn't mind paired with Marisa.
My vision of Nitori is that of a very energetic and enthusiastic kappa that hangs out with Aya when Aya isn't working (and sometimes when she is) and works on some shenanigans with Hina when the latter feels like acting mischievous (read, psychopath). However, she can take it easy if the situation requires it. Winter Scenery doujins kind of depict the Nitori in my head, very loosely. There was this other doujing where Aya and Nitori go around taking photos of the gods. It was very amusing since the Aki sisters were emo with no autumn, Hina was rather revealing when she's alone, Suwako was weird and Kanako was a Magnificent (lolicon) Bastard. And Sanae is boring. Good times.
Conclusion: I love you Nitori. You're one of the best characters in MoF. I can just imagine you unleashing technological hell to your opponent, with rockets being shot from your backpack and all. I even put a surprise towards the end of the video ^_^
