"I already fought a pissed off snake, a cheery frog, a sick book, an eccentric bat, a pedantic cow, a revengeful chicken, a delusional cat, and now a pedophile fox. That means the only things left are a pedophile fox (again), a game-breaking demon, a good snake-frog-girl and a... Freudian phallus... Not really looking forward to that last one."

A video of me fighting and, actually, quite comfortably beating the nine-tailed fox familiar Ran Yakumo
Ran Yakumo (Whose name holds no relation to running)) is the Ex-boss of the game Perfect Cherry Blossom, the 7th installment of the Touhou Project. The Touhou Project is a series of danmaku shooters. Go and check the wiki (link at end of description) for more information relating danmaku and Touhou.
Ran, whose name means "indigo" as in the color, is the shikigami of the youkai of boundaries and gaps Yukari Yakumo, who I'll beat... later. A shikigami is practically a familiar in the sense that is a servant to another being, in this case Yukari. I always thought of Ran as a very plain character (except for the mystery of how a Kyūbi ended as Yukari's pet/servant/slave). Even her design is plain, except for that weird hat of her. Is not my favorite character at all, not even in the top 30... Probably. A lot of Ran's spell cards make reference to Japanese culture, so I wont bother on explaining each of them. Go check the wiki for that.
Ran is probably the most difficult ex-boss I had faced so far. And she's not that kind of "WHY ARE YOU SO ****ING HARD FOR NO REASON?" kind of hard (Like Suwako and Ex-Chen). Is a "hard" firmly supported by the fact that she's a shikigami with a shikigami. You know you're strong when you, being a summoning, can summon another summoning. Now that's hardcore right there.
But seriously, what makes her worst is that her favorite kind of danmaku is the kunai danmaku. Their hitbox is practically the entire sprite, which create a psychological barrier that tells you "That's a big danmaku"... but is not. They are numerous though. On the objective side, I think what makes her hard is not only that her danmaku are numerous, but the patterns themselves require a lot of fast reflexes and precise hitbox movement. Still, I believe her to be the hardest so far, but obviously not the hardest of them all.
This wasn't exactly my favorite ex-battle either. It was the most challenging, but Flandre's and Mokou's were more epic while Suwako's and Mokou's more fun. Somehow, Ran's spell cards and the background seem so... uninteresting and plain. I dunno, maybe there was too much indigo kunai for my taste. Even if Mokou had too much red, red is more interesting than indigo...

![Rosenkreuzstilette - Schwer-Muta Casasola Merkle (Stage 4)
♪And theres a creepy girl, that always follows you, and has white jumpsuit, and a stupid squid.♪
A video of me 4th-walling Schwer-Muta Casasola Merkles highly misleading stage in the game Rosenkreuzstilette.
Schwer-Muta Casasola Merkle is one of the Eight RKS Magi you fight in the game and the ninth member of Rosenkreuzstilette [RKS009 Neun]. RKS is a Mario Clone that plays like Mega Man with the story of Castlevania and the cast of Touhou with the guest appearance of Bomberman. True story.
Oh Schwer, what to say about her? Despite her absurdly cute appearance, Schwer is the creepy child of RKS. Her entire stage is... well, let me just say you shouldnt watch this video if you want to be surprised.
Her fight basically consist of her walking around the stage and charging Geisterwand, the Mental Barrier/Ghost Wall or Mind Barrier. Of all those names, Im partial towards Ghost Wall, since it gives it a more mysterious air. After charging her attack, she release it, sending the morning stars spiralling through all the stage. She always attack from three positions, mirrored in each side of the stage. Her attack pattern is static, so you can through trial and error figure out where to stand and where to go when the attack is released so they pass by you harmlessly. The pattern changes when she enter Desperation mode, but it still is static. During the charge, Zeppy, her pet squid, will shoot ink toward the sky and when she release the ink falls on your position. If it hits, it will blind you, so be sure to move. In general, she fights like Wood Man.
I cannot really talk of this stage without being a spoiler, so not much to say about that. Ill just say is a very entertaining, if infuriating, stage. Schwer is a just so adorable that she has become of the mascot for the English community (or at least the Schwer and Schwer Alike community). Shes also... slightly creepy and weird. Apparently her backstory is something along the line of her being raised by a family of bear or something. Ok, thats just being humorous. But she did grew up in a bestial environment and this cause her to be cautious around others, with the only friend she truly trust being her pet squid. Kinda sad, really.
Sorry for the short description if you are one of the people who like them, but RKS doesnt really have the rich background Touhou has. I suppose I could enter into a long winded explanation of all the German and such used, but that would be boring and hard to do, so Ill just end this description on this note. ![Me vs Utsuho Reiuji (SA Final Boss-Normal)
Ha! Even a fool that possesses great power cant cause too much harm, even if its the power of dreams.
A video of me fighting and defeating, live!, the hellish yatagarasu, Utsuho Reiuji

Utsuho Reiuji (nicknamed Okuu by her fans and Zun alike ^_^) is the Final boss of the game Subterranean Animism, the 11th installment of the Touhou Project. The Touhou Project is a series of danmaku shooters that is not like other bullet hells given the focus on characters. For more info, check the wiki at the bottom of the description.
What can I say about Utsuho? Shes awesome. Like other SA characters, I originally disliked her, but grew on me the more I played SA and read doujins. Still not a fan of her fight, though I do recognize the epicness behind it. NOTE: Even though her official nickname is Okuu, I like to call her real name simply because Utsuho sounds more formidable and majestic than Okuu.
Utsuho is normally depicted as an idiot in fanwork due to a quote from ZUN which I based the first line in this description. Parallel to Cirno who is called ⑨, Utsuho is called ⑥. As an Utsuho fan, I recognize the existence of this belief but decide to completely ignore it (the same goes with Cirno). As a matter of fact, my favorite interpretation of Utsuho in a doujin so far is in Listening to Each Others Hearts Voice by Hero Bear, [SKIP TO THE END OF THIS PARAGRAPH IF YOU DONT WANT SPOILER XD] a short doujin where Utsuho along with Orin are seeking to make Koishi happy by making a bird she found sing. How do they make this happen? They trick her (couldnt trick Satori though, but shes frikkin Satori, so is okay). Goes to show how intelligent she can be.
Same goes for Cirno. Back to Okuu. She has one of my favorite character designs in the series (Her cape thingy reminds me of Count Bleck O.o). I guess I dont really dig the lolita style, probably why her, Aya, and Reisen are some of my fav characters.
As for the battle itself, a note: This is not my best playthrough but there is nothing I can do about it. This was record at the instant while I was playing. Why? SA has a glitch in its replays where whenever you play a replay against Utsuho, your character will freak out and kill herself. Goes to show how scary she is. Normally this is bypassed easily by starting the replay on Orins stage, but after tweaking with the configuration of SA, this stopped working for me, so I had to play a practice. This is the reason why I had some many lives and full power. No worry though, I normally have two lives for Utsuho, gain one life during the fight and get there with full power, so I barely beat her with no extra lives left.
The fact that her power is manipulation of nuclear fusion and that she, along with Orin, are servant to Satori speak a lot of their power. I find her the second hardest final boss in the series (Yuyuko wins). No worry, Remilia (my fav. char. In the series) comes in a close third place. Like I mentioned in Flandres vid, bosses tend to show their non-danmaku ability in their bullet hells. Utsuho is not the exception (Flandre is). ALL of her attacks revolve around the idea of the sun, the ultimate source of nuclear fusion. All of her spells are gargantuan in their size. Is fun I guess, just too hard for my personal taste.
