Mt Si is popular local hiking destination in the Snoqualmie Valley about 1hr drive east of Seattle, WA. It was featured prominently in the 90s hit TV show “Twin Peaks”. Even though the summit elevation is only 4167’, the standard trail to the summit involves 3400’ elevation gain in about 4.25 miles, including a 200’ class 3 scramble up the summit block known as the “Haystack”. I was on a work related trip to Seattle recently and was able to get this hike in for half a day. The first 4 miles was hiking on a well groomed trail in an old growth forest with limited views. After reaching the rocky summit area, the view opened up and the final scramble up the Haystack was super fun. I had the summit to myself for 15 min which is rare for this peak before I started heading back down
