The motorbike was born as an evolution of the previous Guzzino, successfully in the catalog since 1946. The biggest difference compared to the previous "65" concerns the frame, modified with the insertion of two sheet metal braces to support the rear mudguard. The rear suspension also benefited from two compass shock absorbers. Other changes concerned the tires (20" instead of 26"), the luggage rack (on the rear mudguard instead of the tank) and the carburettor (still Dell'Orto, but with a 14 mm diffuser). The changes made the Mandello light motorcycle about 10 kg heavier than the previous model, but also 5 km/h faster. The launch price was 99,000 lire, lower than the 107,000 of the last "Guzzino" series. In 1956 the Goldfinch was updated, with a new telescopic fork, a larger capacity tank, new more enveloping mudguards and light alloy central drum brakes instead of lateral ones.
