The Bol d'Or is a speed and endurance motorcycle competition that has taken place on various French circuits, since 1922. In modern times, from 1971 to 1977 on the Bugatti Circuit, from 1978 to 1999 it took place on the Paul Ricard Circuit and from 2000 until 2014 the race was held on the Magny Cours Circuit, before returning to Le Castellet from the 2015 edition. The race is part of the Endurance world championship, it takes place over 24 hours and each team fields three riders for each bike who alternate driving. Until 1981 there were two pilots with 90 minute shifts. It is usually scheduled for the second week of September.
