On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, community members gathered at the Central Arkansas Library System's Main Library in Little Rock to listen to Ronnie A. Nichols share stories about Black soldiers who served in the military during the American Civil War.

Artist Vinnie Bagwell spoke about the inspiration behind Arkansas’s Heroes, a monument honoring Black soldiers that is now permanently installed in front of the library.
