Monas or the Indonesian National Monument is located right in front of Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, Indonesia. Monas began construction on August 17, 1961, and was archived by Frederich Silaban and R. M. Soedarsono. At the base of the monument at a depth of 3 meters below the ground, there is the Indonesian National Museum of History. Large space of national struggle history museum with an area of 80 x 80 meters, can accommodate visitors around 500 people. This marble-lined large room has 48 dioramas on all four sides and 3 dioramas in the middle, making it a total of 51 dioramas. This diorama shows the history of Indonesia from pre-history to the New Order period.
At the top of the National Monument, there is a cup that supports the flame of a bronze lamp that weighs 14.5 tons and is coated with 35 Kilogram gold. This flame or torch tongue is 14 meters high and 6 meters in diameter consists of 77 parts that are joined together. This fire tongue is a symbol of the struggle of the Indonesian people who want to achieve independence. The pinnacle of the monument is "Fire Never Goes Out" which means that the Indonesian people always have a burning spirit in struggle and never recede or extinguish all time.
